I think this Holden/Bozak thing has brought about the dumbest tweets from Ranger fans I have seen yet, and that was hard to do.

I don't think there's any reason to buyout Staal yet. Wait until next summer when he has to submit a 15 team list and hope we can interest someone by retaining some salary (maybe $2 million a year) and adding a pick. I don't see that being a stretch. As fans were saying he has no value, which we said about Girardi and then he went out and signed a 2 year $6 million deal when everyone was predicting he would get league minimum or a 1 year $1 million deal. Wait till next summer and see what happens.

you guys are lacking center depth.

we're going to be fighting to get in the playoffs.

your guys lack of center depth may put us in direct competition for a WC spot.

we're not going to make a trade that makes you guys better in the short term and makes us worse in the short term.

I hear you but felt there had been enough discussions on it, that I wanted to put in my two cents - hopefully balanced - on it.

Unless Staal has a major turn around season, he is negative value.

It would be like a bunch of guys going to the bunny ranch and choosing which girl they would like to get to know better. Staal would be the girl at the end with the gimpy leg, lazy eye, and breath like a sh!t house on a tuna boat.

I'm praying we buy out Staal. Why keep him? He is killing us out there. Yes It's a lot of dead cap space over the next 4 years, but he is 5.7M of dead space if we keep him. He is only going to keep getting worse, as impossible as that seems, and take ice time away from our young guys. He HAS to go

Leafs need Bozak to occupy one of their top three centre roles. Without him, they'd have to shift Nylander into the middle, and Babcock seems reluctant to do that

I certainly wouldn't be interested in moving him for a pylon like Holden

most teams backups don't go 16-8-2. a .500 record by pavlec could leave you guys on the outside alone.

not to mention the bigger hole of trading away your 1C.

you guys could easily drop 8-10 points in the standings.

So use him as the 7th dman. You can't tell me next summer we couldn't trade him +a 2nd for a 6th or something like that retaining 2 million in cap space.

He's not though. Mika will be better and a lower cap hit.

Agreed.

This may come off bias but I still think Staal has a hell of a lot of NHL hockey left in him, if given better zone starts & sheltered minutes.

..but then again, that's a hell of a lot of cheddar for a guy playing 10 minutes a night.

Perhaps he can join Stepan in the desert next year.. the girls over at ASU can be pretty enticing.. maybe I'll move to Arizona too.
